This memo is in response to the cost effectiveness of "Cloud Computing" in education .
Dear ACSD Board Members and Stakeholders,
I am impressed with the technology you have made available to the staff and students of our district. I understand that some of the technologies we would like to use/ purchase are expensive at times to purchase for all grade levels, and we need to decide as a grade level what would best meet the needs of our students at a budgeted cost. As a result of our need to purchase First in Math accounts for each child, we have decided as a team to reduce our Math Student Activity Book cost. In doing this, we can order the number of Unit we need separately, which help reduce space in student desks, but also free money needed to purchase student accounts. This program, First in Math, supports student learning not only in the classroom, but a home as an important fluency practice resource. I would also like to suggest for our district to do the same in regards to reading workbooks. It has come to my attention that all teachers who teach from the adopted reading series have access online to printable PDF documents for each workbook page, grammar page, and spelling page. If each grade level K-5 did not order the student workbook for 1 year, this would save our district close to $12,000.00. The cost per grade level is approximately 2, 000 for all student workbooks. This money can them be spent on technology, such as Smart boards, projectors, and flip cameras that are needed to help with 21st century learning skills.
